Sawdon
Sawdon lies 1.5 miles North of the A170, Thirsk to Scarborough Road. It is an old village with a fascinating history that still has farming and countryside pursuits as its focus. It is beautifully quiet and off the beaten track. The road through the village just takes traffic to the farms and the workers to the Wykeham Forest beyond.
Foxholm is conveniently situated in the centre of the village opposite the Anvil Inn that always carries a range of real ales in the bar and an enticing menu in the restaurant. There is a wide range of other pubs and eatery’s within 2-3 miles and the full range of seaside town facilities are just 7 miles away at Scarborough. We are happy to discuss guests’ preferences and make recommendations where we can. For more information about Eating Locally click here.
There are beautiful easy local walks through Sawdon Vale and to surrounding villages direct from the house with many wonderful other walking opportunities on the North York Moors being just a short car drive away.
The market towns of Pickering and Malton are nearby (7 & 12 miles), there are beautiful country houses, gardens and stately homes to explore, the coast is just 7 miles away at Scarborough with Whitby, Filey, Flamborough and the RSPB at Bempton Cliffs being within easy reach.
